Setting Up Your Study

To create a study listing, these are the typical steps:

  1. Give your study a title that complies with the following convention:
[CENTRE] COURSE Type of study: Study title|Payment/Credit Value.
    e.g., [DCC] Gedragsexperiment: Eenden tellen | 10euro/1ppu
In the case of experiments for a course, please use the following convention:
[CENTRE] COURSE Type of study: Study title|Payment/Credit Value
e.g., [BSI] OP2 Online vragenlijst: Houd je van dieren? | 0,5ppu
Note that studies are listed in a random order to participants so there is no advantage in naming a study such that it is at the top of an alphabetical list.
  2. Add a clear description of the study such as the task, requirements for participation, and the compensation for participation in credits and/or payment.
  3. Indicate the duration of the study and be sure this corresponds to the credits or amount of payment offered. Typically, 30 minutes of participation equals 5euros or 0.5ppu.
  4. If you are conducting an experiment that requires ethical approval by an accredited committee, make sure to include the ethical code. In any case, all studies need ethical reviewing beforehand. Consult your supervisor(s) if you are unsure.
  5. Add timeslots. Studies without timeslots will not be visible to participants. Also see step 7.
  6. Add the study and then use the prescreen restrictions feature to target your study to the respective participants. This allows you to restrict your study to participants of a certain age group, sex, handedness, etc. Using this feature ensures that you do not have unwanted sign-ups.
  7. Now that you are ready to recruit participants, ensure that the Approved? and Active Study? options are set to Yes. Otherwise, your study will not be visible to participants.
